Each course is designed to take participants from little or no understanding of woodturning to a level which can assist them to turn safely at home.
Participants will be taken through; * health and safety in relation to woodturning, * the woodturning lathe and its components, * how to sharpen each individual tool in preparation for turning.
Day1 Is designed to take each participant though turning between centres using the appropriate tools. Students will be taught the foundations of spindle work between centres including how to turn beads, coves and fillets, as well as how to sand and finish work correctly. These key elements are commonly used in the turning of such items as candlesticks and lamps.
Day2 Will be dedicated to face plate turning. Students will be taught how to turn the outside and inside of a bowl using the correct tools and how to apply an appropriate finish.
